Natalia speaker shares zest for zen gardens

She captured everyone's interest by giving them an insight and meanings of the elements of a zen garden.

NATALIA Garden Club’s president, Karolina Kotze opened the last meeting on 12 May with a prayer and asked members to remember sick members Eunice Pickster and Gwen Barnes in their prayers.

New member Guy Westbrook was welcomed to the club.

Thank you to members who took snacks for tea time. Karolina encouraged members to check their cupboards at home for good enough throw-outs,which can be added to the sales table to boost the club’s funds.

The club excursion to Mitchell Park went off very well. Members thoroughly enjoyed viewing the variety of beautiful plants and admiring the birds and other animals, as well as the treats at the tea garden.

The Bluff Sandwich Ministry are in need of peanut butter and jam for needy school children’s sandwiches. If you are able to do so, take these along if you can.

May birthday members were congratulated and chose a gift from the basket. Karolina shared some useful tips on avoiding cancer.

The door prize was won by Charlotte Muzerie, raffle by Beryl Smale and the 100 club by June Richards. After tea, the speaker Jeanne Buitendag presented interesting displays of zen gardens. She captured everyone’s interest by giving them an insight and meanings of the elements of a zen garden. Members are truly grateful for the wealth of information she shared on this unique topic.

On 9 June, Beverley Du Bois will be the speaker on ‘butterflies’. Everyone looks forward to seeing all members, new members and visitors. The meeting begins at 9.30am at the Pigeon Club in Tara Road.
