A POLICE sting, a mansion, a drug manufacturing plant and stolen electricity – the makings of a massive drug bust on the Bluff on Friday, 13 May.
Following a tip-off, the Durban Flying Squad narcotics task team set up a sting in a Bluff mansion. There they found a laboratory manufacturing hydroponic dagga using stolen electricity from a municipal pole.
The plants found at the scene were valued at about R100,000.
A 57-year-old man was arrested for manufacturing and dealing in hydroponic drugs, along with possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
“This will send a strong message to other criminals who are hiding and involved in illegal operations that destroy the future of this country. The police will leave no stone unturned to root out drug factories in this province,” said KZN provincial commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni.
