A TRUCK driver was killed in a crash on the M7 at the Umbilo interchange at about 10am on Friday, 18 March.

It appears as the driver lost control of the truck on the M7 onramp to Umbilo Road and the vehicle landed on its side on the side of the road.

Rescue Care paramedics, Durban fire department and SAPS search and rescue staffers attended the scene.

According to Rescue Care operations director, Garrith Jamieson, paramedics climbed into the truck to assess the driver but found he had died from the severe injuries sustained in the crash.

Police were investigating the crash and the onramp was closed for some time on Friday as police combed the scene.
