Wentworth urges bowlers to attend special general meeting

Weather dictated that last Wednesday’s Family and Friends development bowls be cancelled.

MEMBERS are reminded of the special general meeting scheduled for Wednesday, 16 March at 6pm after the development bowls.

The purpose of this meeting is to accept changes to the club constitution and bylaws that pertain to these changes.

The committee urges all to attend to be part of the voting process.

The Bluff Meat Supply men’s bowls played on Friday, 11 March was won by Jumbo Nel, Neil Smith and Robin de Gouviea with a score of plus 19. Herby Hoffman, Herby Roux and Dave Carroll (senior) were seven shots behind them in second place. The sportsman’s prize went to Terry Micholson, Dave Matthews and John Yunnie.

Steve Evenwell and Gerald Castor Royle put the Sunday roasts on their tables when Steve won the raffled pork and Gerald took home the beef. The first 60/40 board spoils were shared by Alan Ritchie and Graham Bransby. The second board went the way of Ellen Loots and Bob Hayward.

Weather dictated that last Wednesday’s Family and Friends development bowls be cancelled. This initiative is driven with the aim of getting members of the community to try their hand at the game of bowls. Play starts at 3pm and an open invitation is extended to all. Club coaches are available every Wednesday at 1.30pm to assist new bowlers and to help experienced bowlers iron out any bad habits that may have crept into their game. A list has been posted for the men to indicate their availability for the 2016 league. Give attention to this and take note of any club competitions.

Bernie Pool has taken charge of the kitchen in Ina’s absence. She will have daily specials and the usual Sunday roast. Regular diners wishing to enjoy the Sunday roast are asked to call Bernie on 072-294-1392.

A big screen is available for those wishing to watch sporting highlights. Braai and bowling facilities are available for corporate and team building functions and the hall is offered for hiring. Call the club on 031-467-7103 for details.
