TAFFY’S pairs was played in somewhat inclement weather last Wednesday and as mentioned before, Ken ‘Taffy’ Thomas and Julia Venter have pulled out all the stops to bring bowlers great prizes.

Bowlers were treated to prizes sponsored by Booths Bottle Store, Panarotti’s Pizza, EIS and John Dory.

Winners on the day were Eric Smit and Bob Hayward on 4+17. They also won the 60/40 board spoils. Dennis Gericke and Andy Cloete won first session on 2+4, Chris Klopper and Len Roscoe took the second with 2+7. Raffle winners were Clive Symons (meat), Rex Meyer (wine) and Dennis Gericke (spanners). The lotto was not won and will be carried over to next month.

Note that owing to the start of the mid-week league next Wednesday, followed by the night bowls, Lyn Wild’s pairs has been cancelled.

On Saturday afternoon, the much anticipated final of the men’s handicap singles was played between the two on form players Paul White and Kim Hawkins with Kim emerging the victor at 21-15 to take the title.

On the same date, Graham Funnell, playing his catch-up match against Stuart Milligan managed to win to secure his place in the semi-finals of the PNB men’s open singles. He will resume his quest next weekend at Amanzimtoti when he takes on Bruce Makkink. Good bowling, Graham.

Unfortunately, none of the Wanderers seniors singles made it into the play-offs.
