Drug dealer netted with R13,000 in heroin, rock

Drug bust sees man arrested.

AN alleged drug dealer was arrested with nearly R13,000 in illegal substances in Clairwood on Tuesday, 26 January.

Working together, the eThekwini inner south cluster crime intelligence unit, Durban organised crime unit, Shongweni K9 dog unit and Durban public order policing unit project task team followed a tip-off to a home in Houghton Road.

After watching the home for activity, the team entered it in the late afternoon. Inside the main house they found nothing, but with the help of their canine companion, John, the search of a back room yielded the drugs.

With his partner, Constable Khwela, John found two metal containers containing 224 pieces of rock cocaine and 71 capsules of heroin – with a combined value of about R12,620 – along with R310 in cash.

A 41-year-man was arrested for dealing in and possession of heroin and rock cocaine.

“Brighton Beach SAPS management welcomes the arrest. We congratulate the members involved and K9 John on the positive outcome achieved,” said communications officer, Captain Louise Le Roux.
