Three arrested in drug bust

Drugs is still a major problem in Merewent and the Wentworth SAPS will have a zero tolerance to any law breakers, drug dealers and users.

A RELIABLE tip-off led the Wentworth SAPS crime prevention unit team to a suspected drug den in Merebank on Thursday, 17 December.

Consts Omar Saib, Ntombifuthi Mbongwa and Winston Govender received information of drug dealing in the area. On arrival they found two men and one woman in the house. The residents co-operated and were searched by the members. Some 50 bags of dagga were found in a bedroom and 10 straws were found on the woman. Another 53 straws were found on the two men. The drugs were packed and ready for sale. The three suspects were arrested and charged for possession of drugs.

Lt Mabaso Gumede said drugs are still a major problem in Merewent and the Wentworth SAPS will have a zero tolerance to any law breakers, drug dealers and users.
