Wentworth pays tribute to community servant

Joselyn Turpin Sass was compassionate, kind and gentle woman who has been a godsend in many live that were in crisis.

JOSELYN Turpin Sass, who died on October 24 will be remembered by her close friends and members of the community as a compassionate, kind and gentle woman who has been a godsend in many live that were in crisis.

A colleague and best friend to Sass, remembers her as a hard worker, “She worked tirelessly at rebuilding many abused children and broken families in Wentworth. She felt that this was her purpose in life and loved her community work.” Sass has spent her time helping pupils through the Umbilo School counselor programme which saw counselors help the pupils of the school to build their own character through various initiatives. Another close friend and colleague, Arlene Muller spoke highly of her beloved friend. “Joselyn was very active and involved in her team and she had a special way with the pupils. They would open their hearts and reveal their deepest secrets to her as they trusted her as a woman of integrity,” Said Arlene.

Sass was a vital member of the Umbilo counseling team, as was much appreciated by the principal of Umbilo Secondary, Brian Muller who said that her presence and willingness to always help and serve others will sorely be missed. “Not only will she be missed by the pupils of Umbilo Secondary but also her team, family and friends, especially Carol Raynecke, Arlene Muller, Pastor Reg Naidu, Elaine Clements and Khetiwe Mathe. She will always be in our hearts,” said Mr Muller.
