Wonderful to see Montlands cleaned for reunion showcase

All this has been done because of the New Forest celebration.

EDITOR – New Forest High School celebrated its 60 year anniversary on 27 November.

Perhaps residents noticed a lot of cleaning going on in the Montclair and Woodlands area prior to this.

Pavements were kept clean, grass was mowed in public areas, there was regular sweeping of the streets and trees were trimmed and cut where needed. Montclair Park was cleaner than I have seen it in over 30 years. Plastic bags of refuse were being removed and many other noticeable things were being done. I even saw some tarring and filling of holes in the streets being done.

All this has been done because of the New Forest celebration. They even had a tour bus driving through the area which was very enjoyable. My question in all this activity is why this can be done when a celebration is taking place and is not able to be kept this way all the time.

I would like to challenge the municipality to keep our area clean and tidy, which should not be a problem now that the majority of the work has been done.

I would like to thank Mike Impson and the team that helped him get all the work done in the area before our visitors arrived from foreign countries to join in the celebrations.

Thank you.
