15 years in jail for road rage murder

A man was shot and killed in 2012.

A ROAD rage incident in Clairwood which left one man dead in 2012, has now resulted in another being sentenced to 15 years in prison for murder.

On 29 February 2012 at about 11.30am, 35-year-old Richard Duxbury was driving along the M4 southern freeway near Clairwood. He and 50-year-old truck driver, Mohamed Sutter got into an argument, during which Sutter shot and killed him.

Brighton Beach SAPS officers arrested Sutter in Durban Central few days later.

Two days ago, on Monday, 19 October Sutter was found guilty of murder in the Durban Regional Court and sentenced to 15 years in prison. He was also found guilty of pointing with a firearm and given an additional two-year sentence.

“I want to congratulate Brighton Beach SAPS for a well-prepared docket presented before court,” said KZN police commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni, as she strongly condemned the road rage incident.
