Learn sign language in deaf awareness month

Classes will be held on 10, 17 and 23 September.

THE deaf community across South Africa will celebrate deaf awareness in September and the KZN Blind and Deaf Society will, once again, give away free South African sign language classes during this month.

The course is aimed at those with no previous acquaintance of sign language, and designed to get the participant conversing in it as soon as possible. The class includes facets of deaf culture, grammatical features of sign language, lexicon and conversational skills.

Classes will be held on 10, 17 and 23 September. Booking is essential as space is limited and will work on a first come, first served basis. Groups from corporates and organisations are also invited to attend and, if necessary, the Society is able to customise a package of 10 South African sign language sessions, according to requirements, at a reasonable fee.

To book your spot on one of the free courses or to enquire about a corporate or group package, call Sasha Pillay on 031-309-4991 or email admin4@bdskzn.org.za.
