Motorist killed in collision with tree

ONE person died and another was fortunate to escape with minor injuries after their car lost control and collided with a tree on the M1 Higginson Highway near Bayview at about 2pm on Sunday, 5 April.

“Rescue Care paramedics found the severely damaged vehicle on the centre median of the busy highway. Paramedics found the driver had suffered fatal injuries and there was nothing more paramedics could do for him. He was declared deceased on the scene. The passenger was fortunate to escape with minor injuries and was transported by Rescue Care to a nearby hospital,” said operations director, Garrith Jamieson.
