Infamous drug dealer netted in swoop

Police arrest Wentworth drug dealer at Bluff hideout.

AN notorious Wentworth drug dealer was arrested on the Bluff yesterday, 24 March in possession of heroin and illegal cigarettes during a covert police operation.

Police received information that a flat owned by a 44-year-old man, who is infamous as a drug dealer in the Hime Road flats area, was being used to hoard drugs, which would then be sold in Wentworth.

After watching the flat for some time, the Hawks and Wentworth SAPS officers were able to confirm that drugs were indeed being brought in. At 9am, the officers moved in and arrested the man on charges of dealing in heroin and possession of illicit cigarettes.

More than 2,000 straws of heroin and nearly 7,000 packets of cigarettes were found, along with a sizable amount of cash. Police believe the drugs were transferred from Chatsworth to be sold in Wentworth.

He is currently being held at Brighton Beach police station, awaiting bail, which police plan to oppose.
