Calling all parabats

Membership is open to paratroopers who qualified in other countries.

IF you qualified as a South African military paratrooper, who are often referred to as Parabats, the KZN Canopy of the SA Paratroopers Association wants you as a member.

“Paratroopers the world-over share a special and common bond and the idea of forming a provincial canopy is to promote the esprit-de-corps and traditions of the paratroopers locally and internationally,” said Gavin Moultrie, a South African paratrooper who did his jump course, to qualify for his Parabat wings in 1974.

Gavin is one of the key organisers behind the KZN Canopy initiative, which held its inaugural meeting at the DLI Hall in Greyville this week. “There are many past paratroopers scattered across the province who have an interest in strengthening and improving the airborne comradeship. Apart from communication of international and SA paratroopers news to members, the KZN Canopy will also organise events and get-togethers on special airborne days and occasions.”

Membership is open to paratroopers who qualified in other countries. Call Gavin on 082-350-79750.
