Wentworth BC lauds its two newly qualified coaches

There was no chicken run on Sunday, 8 February due to the men's and women's club open singles that was played on Saturday and Sunday.

WENTWORTH Bowling Club’s Tuesday men’s pensioners bowls was played on 3 February, with Ken Koch and Brian Smith in first place and Norman Moore and Herbie Roux in second place.

The 60/40 board was won by Ellen Loots and Willie Gericke.

The family and friends fun bowls played on Wednesday, 4 February saw first prize go to Terry Micholson and Zoë Dougal and sportsman prize was won by Johan Nel and Anne Bonthrone. The 60/40 board was won by Frank Greyvenstein and Anne Bonthrone.

In the Bluff Meats men’s pensioners played on Friday, 6 February, first prize went to Gerald C Royle and Bokka van der Westhuizen with + 37, second prize was taken by Dave Carroll and Ben Venter with + 18. Greg McGuiness and Tomcat Cavanagh took the sportsman prize. The 60/40 board was won by Dave Carroll and Ina Davies. Tomcat Cavanagh went home with the beef roast for the second week in a row.

There was no chicken run on Sunday, 8 February due to the men’s and women’s club open singles that was played on Saturday and Sunday. Congrats to the winners so far and those who came second, there is still next year to win. The club looks forward to the finals that will be played on Saturday, 21 February and wishes all players the best of luck.

There will be no chicken run on Sunday, 15 February to accommodate the PNB women’s trips championships. Good luck to all men and women taking part in the PNB trips championships on 15 February.

The club is proud to congratulate John Somerville and Ellen Loots on doing their coaches course. They are now fully qualified coaches at Wentworth Bowling Club.

Events for the next week:

  • Wednesday, 11 February at 3pm – Family and friends fun bowls, with a bring and braai afterwards.
  • Friday, 13 February at 9am – Bluff Meats men’s pensioners bowls.
  • Saturday, 14 February at 9am – men’s and women’s finals in club open singles. Go and support the bowlers.
  • Sunday, 15 February at 9am – men and women play the PNB trips championships.

The kitchen is open daily from Tuesdays to Sundays from 8am until 6pm. Breakfast, bar lunches and Sunday lunches are served. Contact Ina Davies on 082-768-4644.
