Police seize 80 boxes of counterfeit alcohol

"Police are aware of people dealing in counterfeit alcohol. Taverns must not purchase counterfeit alcohol."

MONTCLAIR SAPS seized counterfeit alcohol on the N2 northbound on Thursday, 4 December.

At about 7am, a white Nissan bakkie was stopped by police along the N2 northbound.
The driver of the bakkie was allegedly delivering the alcohol to Prospecton. When police searched the vehicle, they found 80 boxes of vodka. Each boxed contained 12 boxes of 750ml Smirnoff Vodka. The alcohol was sent to a laboratory in Prospecton to be tested and it was found to be counterfeit. The driver and his assistant were arrested for possession of counterfeit liquor. “Police are aware of people dealing in counterfeit alcohol. Taverns must not purchase counterfeit alcohol,” said communications officer, Lt Leopold Jojozi.
