With the ongoing crime issues in Yellowwood Park the community are invited and encouraged to attend, in order to raise and address their concerns.

Chairman Chris van den Berg held the meeting and police captain S Perumal discussed crime events/statistics and addressed issues raised.
A discussion arose with regards to the recent discovery of a deceased man who was found at a premises in Woodpecker Circle. Concerns were highlighted regarding the readiness of South Africa should an outbreak of a contagious disease occur. Precautionary measures were taken by SAPS and other roleplayers at the scene, however it is felt that SA is not ready and equipped for any serious case.
Great excitement was expressed in relation to the 7th annual Father Christmas Drive through the Montclair, Woodlands, Yellowwood Park and Woodhaven suburbs on Christmas Eve 24 December, from 10am until about 4pm. Sweets will be handed out to children and parents lining the route, as well as at certain stopping points such as local sports fields and shopping centres along the route. Great fun is had by all as cheerful and festive Christmas carols are played over the PA system as Santa’s sleigh passes by.

The usual procession of vehicles from SAPS, Metro, security companies, CPF and SPF roleplayers follows the procession with sirens and lights flashing. With much ho-ho-ho-ing, great community spirit and goodwill is apparent. “We urge all residents to participate in this initiative to make this a really special day for the children in our areas,” said Van Den Berg. People wishing to join in or assist with donations can contact Chris van Den Berg on 082-372-2403.

Further details of the times and the spot points will be published in due course.
The next SPF meeting will be held on Tuesday, 9 December at 6.30pm in the side hall of Yellowwood Park Civic Centre.
