Trio found with 130 heroin straws

Police arrest men with drugs near known drug den.

THREE 21-year-old men who had 130 straws of heroin between them were arrested in Wentworth on Monday, 17 November and are currently awaiting trial in prison.

The men were arrested during routine patrols by Wentworth SAPS and Durban Flying Squad members in the area. Constables Ogle and Karsen from the flying squad saw a green Volkswagen driving away from an infamous drug den in Hime Street.

The officers stopped the car in Major Calvert Street and told the three occupants to get out. A search revealed 40 green straws containing heroin on the first man, 50 on the second and another 40 on the third, totalling 130 straws of heroin.

The trio were arrested for possession of heroin and appeared in Wentworth court on 18 November. They were denied bail and remanded in Westville prison.
