Police work with business ahead of expected festive season crime surge

Police warn local outlets of robberies ahead of festive season.

BRIGHTON Beach SAP has reacted to the nationwide increase in shopping mall robberies through a business against crime initiative for local centres.

The initiative forms part of the SAP’s national strategy to curb business robberies and the festive season plan. Brighton Beach communications officer, Captain Louise Le Roux launched it on Thursday, 23 October and it is expected to last for three weeks.

Through one-on-one visits with local businesses owners and a business against crime booklet, Capt Le Roux hopes to ensure the safety of tenants and shoppers.

“I am pleased to report that businesses that were reached at a major shopping mall were very enthusiastic about working together with Brighton Beach SAP to minimise and prevent business robberies from occurring at local shopping malls within our policing area. I believe this partnership that has been created can be beneficial for all, if roleplayers play their part to create a safe and secure environment for locals and visitors during the festive season 2014/2015”, said Captain Le Roux.
