Wentworth BC bids farewell to Val Herbert

Sincere Sympathy to family and friends of our beloved Val Herbert who passed away in the early hours of Sunday, she will be missed but will be remembered forever.

WENTWORTH Bowling Club family and friends fun bowls played Wednesday, 3 September saw first prize won by Johnny du Plessis and David Carroll while the sportsman’s prize went to Dirk Venter and Margaret Walters.

Results for the Bluff Meats men’s Friday casual bowls played on 5 September: First prize was won by Graham Bransby, Dave Carroll and Smiler Wilesmith with + 1. Second prize went to John Somerville, Alan Moor and Fred Andrew. Terry Micholson, Robin DeGouveia and Greg McGuinness took the sportsman prize. The pork raffle was won by Maria Cavanagh and Michelle Meilhon won the beef. The 60/40 board was won by Greg McGuinness and Michelle Meilhon.

A very big thanks to Bluff Meat Supply for sponsoring the men’s Friday casual bowls as from Friday, 3 September. The club looks forward to a long and lasting companionship.

Congratulations to John Somerville and Ellen Loots who won the Roley Taylor finals, and Cora van der Westhuizen who won the women’s vet singles. Well done all of you.

The club wishes Frank Greyvenstein, Koekie Koekemoer and Chrissie Smith all the best of luck as they represent KZN in the SANDF championships in Oudtshoorn. Have a safe journey and good bowling.

A reminder that the draw is on the board for women’s point singles.

Events for the next week see bare feet bowls take place on Tuesday, 2 September at 3.30pm. This is casual and bowls are provided.

On Wednesday, 3 September family and friends fun bowls starts at 3pm, and all new bowlers are welcome. Take flat sole shoes, bowls are available. Bring and braai afterward. Take a salad to share.

On Thursday, 4 September bare feet bowls takes place at 3.30pm. This is casual and bowls are provided.

On Friday, 5 September Bluff Meats men’s casual bowls starts at 9am.

The kitchen is open daily from Tuesdays until Sundays from 8am until 6pm. Breakfast, bar lunches and Sunday lunches are served. Call Ina Davies on 082-768-4644.
