Few office bearers change at Woodlands WI AGM

All competition entries to be in by 9.15am.

MAUREEN Lavis, president of Woodlands Womens Institute (WI) welcomed all members and visitors and opened the institutes AGM on Friday, 14 March with the Mary Stewart Collect.

As Maureen is also group executive for the Southern Hills Group of FWI, she then proceeded with the AGM agenda.

The minutes of last year’s AGM were read by secretary, Val Wagner, and both the financial statement and president’s report were presented by Maureen.

The election of office bearers saw a few changes, with May Scott taking over as judges liaison officer, Linda Gibbs as home products convenor and sales table to now be manned by Wendy Cuthbertson. The committee and ‘top table’ have remained unchanged and Maureen thanked all office bearers for being so willing to stand.

Members who celebrated a birthday in March were wished and after the tea break Margaret Everett demonstrated how to do floral arrangements using unusual containers. Raffle, money board and mystery prize winners were drawn and competition results announced. A special thank you to Linda Melson for judging all competition entries every month.

Best orchid: First Phyllis Parsonage, second Hazel Deme, third Linda Gibbs. Merit: First May Scott and Denise Morgan, second Hazel Deme, third Linda Gibbs. Well done to all members who enter the monthly competitions.

The meeting was closed with the women’s institute prayer and Maureen reminds all Southern Hills Group members about the group AGM on Friday, 4 April at 9.30am hosted by Woodlands WI at the Montclair recreation hall, 191 Wood Road, Montclair.
