Hikers to take in view of 1,000 Hills

DURBAN Ramblers Hiking Club’s programme of hikes for the coming weekend includes an outing to the Valley of 1,000 Hills on Saturday, 1 March.

Hikers will meet and park at Drum and Bell in Old Main Road, Botha’s Hill. The hike will follow Old Main Road past Botha’s Hill towards Drummond, up to Monteseel to overlook the Valley of a 1,000 Hills. Enjoy drinks at Drum and Bell afterwards. A short hike will be available and will take about an hour and a half. This hike is rated moderate including two steep hills.

On Sunday, 2 March Ramblers take a hike to Killarney Rockeries in Cato Ridge.

This is a joint Ramblers/MBC/Midlands hike. Hikers will meet at Union Main Centre, Old Main Road, Pinetown, in time for a prompt 7.15am departure, or go direct. Take exit 53 at Cato Ridge, turn left and follow High Stakes signs to the 4×4 track and store. The hike starts at High Stakes at 8am. Safe parking available at R25 per person. Call to confirm your attendance on the hike.

This 12km hike is rated moderate.
