Thieves pose as scrap metal collecters

Eugene Houston Mc Millan said his mother, Francis (67) contacted him to ask if she could allow the three men onto their property to collect some scrap metal at about 10am on Thursday, 6 February.

“We often see them in our neighbourhood asking for scrap metal and this time my mom decided to support them. After she let them in the gate, they stole a home theatre system from our property,” said Eugene.

The men travel in a white bakkie with a black railing around the bin.

“It seems like the call for scrap metal is just a cover for them to gain access to your property. They seem to be more intent on stealing. Residents must be aware of them.”
