Hikers become one with nature

Hike in natural bush and grasslands with some game viewing.

DURBAN Ramblers Hiking Club’s Saturday and Sunday programme for this weekend includes an outing through Stainbank Nature Reserve on Saturday, 1 February.

The reserve entrance can be found at 90 Coedmore Avenue, Yellowwood Park.

Meet at the car park inside the reserve at 1.45pm. Hike in natural bush and grasslands, with some game viewing. Entrance fee of R20 is payable at the reserve gate. The shorter hike will take about an hour and a half.

The hike is rated moderate.

On Sunday, 2 February there is a hike to Cumberland Nature Reserve, Pietermaritzburg.

This is a joint ramblers/MBC/Midlands outing.

Hike along cliffs to the bottom of the waterfall, to return through grasslands. Meet at Union Main Centre, Old Main Road, Pinetown, in time for a prompt 6.45am departure, or by the ‘honesty box’ in the reserve at 8am. Cost is R10 per person. Call to confirm your attendance on the hike. Petrol sharing costs R35. This 12km hike is rated moderate.
