Audition for Annie

CALLING all actors for auditions for KickstArt’s production of Annie.

The duo of Steven Stead and Greg King of KickstArt are looking for female actors for the title role in production of the classic Broadway musical, Annie. Applicants must be aged from nine to 14; be capable of singing and acting to a high level; speaking and singing English with an American accent and be able to play six orphans in Miss Hannigan’s orphanage.

Two sets of girls will be cast in order to lessen the strain of performing. Auditions are on Saturday, 18 January in room M2 at the Playhouse’s Mayville Complex, Ramsay Road between 10.30am and 1.30pm. No reservation of an audition time is necessary, but all applicants must arrive at 10am to put their names on the list. The audition list closes at 11.30am.

All aspiring candidates must take a short song with sheet music or backing track from musical theatre. If applicants get through the singing audition, they will be required to stay and attend a dance and acting audition, which requires the presentation of an one-minute monologue in an American accent.

The show will rehearse on weekday afternoons and weekends from 19 April until it opens on 16 May. Performances will be at 7pm on Tuesday to Saturday and 2.30pm on Saturdays and Sunday, until it closes on 15 June.
