Missing Montclair boy found drowned

The search for a missing four-year-old boy ended on a sombre note when it was found he had drowned in the deep end of a pool in a block of flats in Roland Chapman Drive, Montclair on Monday morning, 6 January.

The boy went missing on Sunday from a complex in Roland Chapman Drive at about 6.30pm.

A search of the grounds and all the places he frequented proved fruitless. The matter was then escalated to Montclair SAP, who immediately started the search which continued throughout the night.

He was found in the early hours of Monday morning by a tenant of the flats, who alerted the owner. The owner dove into the pool and removed the body of the boy. It has been reported the boy used to play on the property on previous occasions but it is not confirmed how he gained entrance that day.

His body was taken to Gale Street Mortuary and an inquest docket has been opened.
