The event will allow stamp enthusiasts and collectors alike to observe, buy and trade in rare and unique stamps. The fair will be free and run from 09:00 to 14:00.

Zbigniew Kawecki, vice president of the KZN Philatelic Society and the fair coordinator, said the stamp fair is essentially a flea market for stamps and any other items relating to them. “It is a social event that is always well attended, and we’re very excited to be hosting another one at the end of the month. People can find items they’ve been searching for their whole lives,” said Kawecki.

He added that the fair was part of a wider calendar of events to bring collectors together. “We have a monthly auction and braai every second Saturday of the month, sponsored by the society. The fourth Saturday will be the committee meeting, exhibitions and braai,” he said.

Aside from the immense variety of stamps and collectibles on display and for sale, free valuations of stamp collections will be provided. There is also free coffee and biscuits for all visitors to enjoy while they browse the plethora of stamps.

The KZN Philatelic Society, formed in 1911, is the second oldest in South Africa and remains a lively gathering focus for stamp enthusiasts. The stamp fair aims to welcome both seasoned collectors and newcomers into the world of philately.
