Woodlands school stirs up some fun at fundraisers
The event featured enthusiastic crowds and helped to boost community spirit and raise valuable funds for Woodlands Pre-Primary School.
WOODLANDS Pre-Primary School held two successful fundraisers at the Yellowwood Park Sports Club field on September 7.
The event, which included a flea market and fun day, along with a potjiekos competition, attracted a significant turnout and garnered immense support from the community.
Renee Gleisner, the principal of Woodlands Pre Primary School, said they had tons of things to do and see on the day.

“We also had a modelling and talent competition hosted by Strive Modelling and Talent Agency,” she said.
The event featured a variety of activities and offerings, including raffles, food stalls, toys, homemade items, cakes, play dough, ice creams, a tuckshop, clothing and temporary tattoos. Gleisner said a highlight of the day was a display by King of Squats, where adults and children could participate in a fitness challenge.
Gleisner said support from sponsors played a significant role in the event’s success. “MTN was present and generously provided merchandise for the games, while Body Zone donated vouchers for the raffles and prizes. Strive Modelling and Talent Agency contributed modelling and swimming vouchers and Ripley’s Takeaway also provided vouchers for the winners. One of the school parents crafted a beautiful hamper adorned with the school badge, which was included in the raffle,” she said.
Although the potjiekos competition only saw two entries, the dishes prepared were of exceptional quality. Chef Chad Jaundre judged the competition, evaluating the entries based on aroma, taste and presentation. The winning dishes were the water hog and beef potjie, which took first place, followed by the creamy chicken and asparagus potjie in second place.
Gleisner said the overwhelming support and enthusiasm from the vendors and attendees have prompted the school to consider hosting more events in the future. “Our vendors were already asking when our next one would be, so plans are already in the works,” she said.
