Wentworth police and Africa Muslims Agency empower girls with dignity packs

A total of 100 dignity packs were given to girl learners at Durban East Primary School and Junagarth Primary School in the Wentworth policing precinct.

IN support of community drives aimed at ploughing back to previously disadvantaged communities, the Wentworth Police Social-Crime Prevention Unit, in partnership with the Africa Muslims Agency (Ama), distributed dignity packs to girl learners at Durban East Primary School and Junagarth Primary School on August 23.

The initiative saw a total of 100 dignity packs given to learners across the two schools in the Wentworth policing precinct. The packs, designed to provide essential personal care items, were received with enthusiasm and appreciation.

In addition to the dignity packs, the young recipients enjoyed hotdogs and refreshments, adding a festive touch to the event. The distribution was aimed to support learners and foster a sense of dignity and well-being.

Warrant Officer Alvin Nair and Constable Bridget Enicker from the Wentworth Police Social-Crime Prevention Unit were present to assist with the distribution.

The spokesperson for the Wentworth Police Station, Captain Mbuso Gumede, said that these two dedicated members of the unit showed resilience in helping communities.

“Their involvement underscored the commitment of local law enforcement to community welfare and support.

“The positive response from the learners and their gratitude highlight the success of this initiative. We are proud to contribute to their well-being and look forward to future opportunities to support our community,” said Gumede.

The dignity pack distribution was warmly received, with learners and school staff expressing their appreciation for the thoughtful gesture.

“The event marked a significant step in ongoing efforts to support and uplift the local community, with plans for additional distributions in the future.

“The success of the event underscores the power of community collaboration and the positive impact of providing essential support to those in need,” Gumede added.
