Work-readiness workshop a huge success

The work-readiness programme is aimed to equip local youth with the skills they need to succeed in the working environment.

THE eThekwini South Youth in Business conducted a three-day work-readiness programme at the Wentworth Youth Development Centre from August 13 to 15, focusing on preparing young individuals for the job market.

This initiative, spearheaded by Celeste King, the chairperson of the organisation, is aimed to equip participants with crucial skills such as job readiness, resume building, interview techniques, and maintaining employment.

King emphasised the significance of the programme, pointing out that many young people lack knowledge on how to present themselves in job interviews and often submit outdated resumes.

“The goal of this programme was to address these challenges, providing participants with a clear understanding of the dos and don’ts when entering the workforce. We stressed the importance of crafting a well-prepared resume as it serves as the first impression for potential employers,” King explained.

The event attracted 20 eager young participants. King described the programme as highly successful, stating, “The participants were thrilled and appreciative. They expressed how much they learned and how beneficial the programme was for them.”

This event represents another positive stride in the eThekwini South Youth in Business’s commitment to empowering local youth and equipping them to face the demands of the job market.
