Curtain-call for friendly rivalry on the soccer pitch

A tradition dating back to the 80s has its final curtain call on Friday, 20 December at Yellowwood Park Sports Club.

The friendly ‘rivalry’ between Yellowwood Park and Ramblers Tigers soccer players blossomed out of a common love for the game.

Members of the public are invited to watch as the teams do battle for the last time in memory of some of the greats of the area who have died.

Co-organiser, Tim Lombard said, “I think the event is a nostalgic one. It allows us to reconnect with old friends, players and colleagues outside of social media. Many players from around the world will be attending.”

There will be some live music, food and drinks on sale. Kick-off is at 4pm. Jam Clothing has assisted by sponsoring the teams with uniforms for the historic event.

The curtain-call event will pave the way for the new generation to take over from the old, who it is hoped will continue the tradition.
