Theresa Saber from Meals on Wheels shared details of the day’s activities: “Oliver Agency partnered with us to complete their 67 minutes of service for Mandela Day. They assisted us in preparing more than 1 000 sandwiches with various fillings,” Saber explained.

Oliver Agency’s Rylene Kooverjee was the bread-buttering station.

The sandwiches were distributed widely throughout Wentworth, reaching both primary and secondary schools. In addition to schools, sandwiches were handed out in key areas such as the Whip Centre. The team also made rounds in Wentworth, offering sandwiches to people walking by and those en route to Wentworth Hospital.

Ibrahim Simjee from Oliver Agency was focused on his duty of buttering the bread.

Reflecting on the partnership with Oliver Agency, Saber expressed high praise. “It was a great partnership. The staff from Oliver Agency went above and beyond their duties, serving with a smile and a generous spirit.”

The initiative was driven by Oliver Agency’s request to create 1 000 sandwiches, a challenge Meals on Wheels gladly accepted. Saber noted, “Oliver Agency actually decided for us. Their request was to make 1 000 sandwiches, and we were more than happy to comply.”

Cameron Galloway from Oliver Agency fills the sandwiches with various fillings.

This meaningful effort not only honoured Nelson Mandela’s legacy of service but also brought a touch of kindness to those in need, demonstrating the power of community collaboration and compassion.
