Alleged drug dealer arrested in Clairwood

The suspect is one of the most wanted drug dealers in Clairwood.

THE Durban Metro Police have made a major breakthrough after a man wanted for a series of drug-related cases was arrested in Clairwood yesterday (May 15).

The suspect was arrested in a sting operation held by metro police’s drugs team.

According to the spokesperson for Durban Metro, Colonel Victor Zungu, the suspect was known for his alleged involvement in the supply of drugs in the Clairwood, Wentworth and Brighton Beach suburbs.

During the police raid at his house on Horsham Road, police confiscated more than 5 000 heroin capsules, 51 bags of cocaine powder, 17 large crack-cocaine pieces and 893 Mandrax capsules.

“In addition, the police confiscated a cellphone and a bakkie. The suspect was charged with dealing in and possession of heroin, Mandrax, cocaine and crack cocaine. He was also charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

“He is a notorious suspect who is known for supplying drugs,” said Zungu.

The suspect is expected to appear at the Durban Magistrate’s court soon.
