Children had loads of fun engaging in various activities - from jumping castles and water slides to competitive sack races and football matches - there was something for everyone to enjoy.

THE Montwood Ratepayers’ Association orchestrated a lively celebration in honour of Freedom Day, held at the Montclair Recreational Hall on April 27.

The day commenced with a myriad of activities tailored to commemorate the significance of the day. Children and parents alike thronged to the hall, eager to partake in the jubilant atmosphere. Excitement filled the air as youngsters darted from one activity to another, fully embracing the Freedom Day spirit.

From exhilarating races to spirited football matches, the event catered to diverse interests, ensuring there was something enjoyable for everyone. Among the highlights were the jumping castle, water slide, foosball table, sack races and darts.

For the creatively inclined, stations for hair spraying provided an opportunity to add a pop of colour to the celebrations. A particularly memorable moment was the presence of Ward 64 councillor Gavin Hegter, who showed his support by joining in and colouring his hair.

Heidi Geyser, treasurer of the Montwood Ratepayers’ Association, expressed her joy in witnessing the children engrossed in the festivities. “The children in attendance had a lot of fun,” she said.

Despite the enthusiasm of those present, Geyser acknowledged a smaller turnout than expected. “We were hoping for more children to join us,” she confessed. Nonetheless, she emphasised that the event succeeded in bringing joy to those who did attend. “The children had a blast, and ultimately, that’s what counts,” Geyser affirmed.

The initiative undertaken by the Montwood Ratepayers’ Association not only offered entertainment but also nurtured a sense of community spirit among Montclair residents.
