Bingo for Montwood senior citizens

Close to 100 seniors showed up for a competitive day of bingo while also engaging in other activities.

MONTWOOD Ratepayers’ Association recently organised a delightful gathering, uniting senior citizens for a day filled with bingo and fun at the Montclair Recreational Hall on March 9.

The festivities commenced with warm greetings from Heidi Geyser, Montwood Ratepayers’ Association’s treasurer, who extended a heartfelt welcome to all attendees and expressed gratitude for their presence. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as the bingo games kicked off, promising loads of prizes for the lucky winners.

Throughout the event, participants revelled in the thrill of the games, with numerous winners emerging from each round, each receiving a prize as a token of their victory. While competition filled the air, it was the sense of camaraderie and unity that made the occasion.

In addition to the bingo games, attendees eagerly participated in a raffle, with winners selected based on age. The grand prize hamper was awarded to the eldest entrant, aged 91, while others aged 89 and 85 were also celebrated for their long lives.

Following the games, a delightful lunch was graciously provided by the International Women’s Forum South Africa.

Reflecting on the day’s success, Geyser expressed heartfelt gratitude for those who participated and to those who lent a helping hand. She added, “We had a great turnout of 97 senior citizens and a few extra walk-ins. I had such a lovely time, and it was an absolute honour to arrange and host such a wonderful event for the seniors.”

Geyser shared that there are plans for similar events in the future and encouraged participants to stay informed about the upcoming dates.
