Dances and songs in various vernaculars were performed by the members, and audiences were entertained by humorous skits relating to the safety and abuse of the elderly during the festive season.

Elderly residents from all around south Durban spent weeks of practice to get their performances ready for visitors who joined in the celebration.

Chairperson of DSSC Sharen Rajman said she was proud of the talented seniors for giving it their all during their performances.

“This exciting celebration would not have been possible without our sponsors, members and volunteers. We thank those who continue to support us and wish the community a very Merry Christmas. We hope the senior citizens in our community are able to safeguard themselves well during the festive season,” Rajman added.
