School soccer tourney a success

After exhilarating matches on the field, the day ended with a delicious meal.

IT was a fun-filled and exciting day for learners who participated in a Soccer Sevens Tournament hosted by Bushlands Primary School on The Bluff recently.

Pragasen Naidoo, a teacher and sports coordinator, said that as part of the school’s 70th anniversary this year, they decided to bring back an old favourite.

“The tournament has been around for many years. However, it had to be put on hold due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, but we are glad to have been able to revive it this year. It was a huge success.”

Naidoo said the U11 and U13 teams from various schools, which included Assegai Primary, Fynnlands Primary, Brighton Beach Senior Primary, Van Riebeeck Park Primary, Montclair Senior Primary, Woodlands Primary, and Yellowwood Park Primary, participated in the event.

He added that the winners in both the U11 and U13 matches were Yellowwood Park Primary School.

“The day ended with lunches being provided for all players and coaches. In the future, we hope business can come on board and support this event,” he said.
