Security officer nabs fleeing business robbery suspect

The suspect was found with items from the eatery in his possession.

AN alleged business robber was no match for a Blue Security’s Armed Response Officer (ARO) who nabbed him while he attempted to flee recently.

Max Naicker, the operations manager for Blue Security, said a foot chase ensued after the suspect allegedly broke into a fast-food eatery on Kenyon Howden Road in Montclair.

“The officer was responding to an alarm activation at the eatery when he noticed the side door was shattered with a large rock while conducting a check. The officer immediately called for backup and chased the suspect, who tried to flee.

“The suspect attempted to make a getaway through a nearby park, however, he was no match for the ARO, who intercepted him with backup officers,” he said.

Naicker said the suspect who had items from the eatery in his possession, was handed over to Montclair police.

“Well done to our armed response teams for creating safer communities by apprehending the suspect,” he said.
