Temporary solution for The Bluff sewage issue

Ward 66 residents have been forced to bear a terrible stench and are subjected to living in unhealthy conditions due to continual burst sewerage pipes.

WARD 66 councillor Zoe Solomon confirmed that sewage will be temporarily redirected underground to stop the overflow onto Lighthouse and Tara roads.

“Engen and Open Serve were on site yesterday to plan the removal of the housing and manhole belonging to Open Serve. This will allow for the commencement of the repair of the pipe belonging to the municipality, which is running under the affected area,” confirmed Solomon.

Workers removed the housing and manhole belonging to Open Serve.

Residents in Ward 66 are forced to bear horrid smells and are subjected to living in unhealthy living conditions, where doors and windows have to be closed due to the smell and flies which are attracted to the sewage – this is because ageing infrastructure is leading to burst sewer pipes in many parts of The Bluff.

Solomon said the issues are being dealt with as they arise.
