Eco-friendly house model sets tongues wagging

PUPILS from Clairwood Secondary School put their creative skills to work in a project with the South Durban Basin (SDB) Area Based Management (ABM) office, developing an eco-friendly house last month.

Grade 8 pupils worked alongside interns from the SDB ABM office to build the model house for the Sustainable Living Exhibition, from recyclable products. According to SDB ABM manager, Eurakha Singh, the project drew a lot of attention and many people have since become interested in eco-friendly developments.

The pupils eagerly participated in the programme and are keen to partner with the SDB ABM for more projects. “We will be working with group of talented youngsters on various initiatives until they reach grade 11 and hope to include more schools in this kind of project,” said Singh.
