SPRIGHTLY and bubbly drum majorette, Kylie Blignaut, will pursue her dream of competing in the global arena when she participates at the MWF World Championship from September 22 to 25.

After falling in love with being a majorette the Yellowwood Park lass was first introduced to the sport at Yellowwood Park Primary School when she was nine-years-old, Kylie went on to attain her KwaZulu-Natal Majorette and Cheerleading Association colours when she was a Grade 6 learner, and is now the proud sub-leader in the Durban Girls High School majorettes team.

Kylie Blignaut is excited to fulfill her dream.

In March 2020, Kylie was proud to have obtained her South African Majorette and Cheerleading Association (SAMCA) colours.
“Unfortunately, due to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdown, we could not travel in 2020 and 2021. I am excited to be able to travel to Zagreb, Croatia, to compete at the championship. This is an amazing, possibly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and a great achievement in the competitive world of majorettes. I will do my best,” said Kylie.

Her proud mum and biggest fan, Kirsten Blignaut, said, “Kylie is dedicated to the sport and spends long hours practicing. Weekends and evenings are spent on the field with her team and she uses extra hours at home and every other chance she can get to practice. We are hoping that residents donate towards her travel and associated costs to be able to attend the championship.”
