Bluff bowlers come out tops in PNB men’s inter club league

Alex Fisher won the Bluff Bowling Club's senior singles title for the second year running last Sunday afternoon.

ALEX Fisher won the Bluff Bowling Club's senior singles title for the second year running last Sunday afternoon, when he outlasted this year's novice champion Kurt Slack by winning with a score of 21 shots to 17.

The Tony Hoggins 3-2-1 killer took place on Friday, 4 October and the overall winners were Joe McNamara, Brian Osman and George Harris with a 4+16.

The first session was won by Alex Fisher, Gary Moffat and Dave White and the second session winners were Dave McCann, Chris Whitlock and Gary Mulligan +26.

The prize for the most touchers went to Brian Osman with seven, while the raffle for the roast beef was won by Bill Addinall.

The board winners Andy Cloete and Ken Koch and the sportsmen's prize went to Eric Smit, Herbie Le Roux and Bob Hayward.

The guys would like to thank the women in the kitchen – Eve, June and Portia – for the lovely lunch.

Last Saturday Glynis Macrory defeated Eve Michna and Daphne Reinhardt beat Lilah Nel in the women's point singles competition. The final was played this past Saturday, when Daphne defeated Glynis.

Last Sunday afternoon the Bissets beat the Morels in a nominated mixed pairs match where Clinton and Sarie outlasted Noel and Ronel.

The penultimate and final rounds of the PNB men's inter club league took place last weekend and the first team, after beating Durban Wanderers 7-0 in an away game on Saturday and a 5-2 home win on Sunday against Umhlanga, won promotion and topped the division standings. As such they will return to the first division after spending just one season in the second division. The second side resurrected their season with two 5-0 wins over the weekend when they defeated Lahee Park at home on Saturday and Durban away on Sunday. Well done to all the guys who played for the club this league season.

The Craig Bell any pairs competition was played on Sunday morning and the overall winners were Alex and Eileen on a score of 4+17 while the first session was won by Tom and Maria Cavanagh on a 2+8. The second session went to Terry Mickelson and Helen Loots on a 2+16.

The 50/50 board draw was won by Kurt Spack. Alex and Eileen are now sitting on the perch and the jackpot is at R1,600 with next month's competition being played on Sunday, 10 November.

Take note of the dates of upcoming events this month: Brian Osman any pairs on the morning of Thursday, 17 October and Lilah Nel any pairs on Sunday, 20 October.

This weekend the men and women PNB fours commenced and unfortunately all the men's sides were eliminated in the first two rounds. The women's results were not available at the time of going to press.

President Norman Robinson and long-time member Clarke Meyer are still struggling with ailments and members are asked to keep them in their thoughts and prayers.

On a lighter note Mari Mackenzie celebrated her birthday last weekend and all hope she had a great day.

All aspiring, new bowlers are welcome to go to the club and give the game a bash. The club has numerous coaches who are only too willing to get you started, so pop down and meet them on a Saturday afternoon.
