Raise funds for charity with city run

Runners who take part in the challenge stand a chance to win a pair of Puma running shoes.

FIVE local charities will benefit from the fundraiser, RUN FOR A CAUSE Challenge which hits the road on Saturday, March 5.  This is the latest running event in the Absa RUN YOUR CITY (RYC) Series’ latest Strava Challenge.

Runners who take part in the event can choose their own route and distance to run anytime between 05:00 and 23:00.

“We are excited to give the RYC Community the opportunity to put their love for running to good use by taking on the Absa RYC’s RUN FOR A CAUSE Challenge,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and founder of the Absa RYC Series.

Charities benefiting from he fundraiser include: Reach For A Dream Foundation (RFAD), Cotlands, Johannesburg SPCA and Johannesburg Heritage Foundation.

“SA’s charities have been hard hit by the pandemic. These charities will welcome any form of support, be it monetory, product donations or time offered,” said Meyer.

Runners will need to capture and share their route and dedicated cause to the RYC Series Club Page on Strava with the hashtags,  #RunYourCity #RunForACause #RunPuma.

All runners and walkers who complete the RUN FOR A CAUSE Challenge and share their activity to the RYC Series Running Club on Strava within the stipulated time frame stand the chance of winning a pair of PUMA NITRO running shoes.

The winner will be selected by random draw and announced on the RYC Series Running Club page on Monday, March 7.
