“Blood cannot be manufactured and has a limited shelf life, the supply must constantly be replenished. In South Africa, 3 500 blood units are needed daily to maintain a stable blood supply. The participation of blood donors is essential to the work that SANBS does year-round to save lives,” Sifso Khoza, SANBS regional marketing manager.
The requirements to donate with SANBS are, you must be between the ages of 16 and 75, weigh a minimum of 50kgs and must be in good health.
