MATRICS OF 2021: Here’s how to get your grade 12 results via SMS/USSD code

It's as easy as 1, 2, 3... submit your exam number via SMS/USSD code and get your results on Friday, January 21, from 06:00.

MATRICS, the time has come to keep those exam numbers handy to get your results! On Friday, January 21, the matric class of 2021 will receive its National Senior Certificate examination results.

All learners will be able to access their Grade 12 results from 06:00 or collect them from their respective schools from 08:00. IEB (Independent Examinations Board) matrics would have already had access to matric results from Wednesday, January 19.

Here’s how to get your results as soon as possible

Before you get started, note that you may only submit your exam number via one single cellphone number to receive results via this service, as per the Department of Education’s guidelines. This service only applies to the Department of Education’s National Senior Certificate examinations, and not IEB results.

1. Get your exam number and smartphone!

You will only be able to gain access to your results by means of your exam number.

2. SMS

SMS your exam number to 35658 after which you will receive reminders and USSD instructions to follow in order to gain access to your results after 06:00 on Friday, January 21. SMSes are charged at R1.50 each. Free SMSes do not apply.

3. USSD code

Alternatively, dial the USSD code *120*35658# on which you will receive further instructions to gain access to your results after 06:00 on Friday, January 21. USSD charged at R1.50 per minute. Free minutes do not apply. (*Persons who submit their personal information via the delivery methods in (2) and (3) thereby give consent for their personal information to be processed for the purpose of communicating their examination results. Any person who communicates personal information as per these clauses guarantees that they are legally authorised to do so.)

The Department of Basic Education wishes to reiterate the following:

These results are preliminary results and therefore, in the case of omissions, candidates must contact the school. Bursaries are available from NSFAS for any course of study. Contact NSFAS on 08600 NSFAS (0860067327), email info@nsfas.org.za or visit www.nsfas.org.za Although every effort has been taken to ensure the accuracy of the results, note that candidates’ results may have been omitted or inaccurately printed due to technical reasons.
