Step into your dancing shoes and support charity fundraiser

The trio organisations will host a fun-filled programme sure to entertain both young and old on Saturday, 10 April at the Merewent Cheshire Home.

CHOW Time Community Food Drive, Merewent Cheshire Home and the Wentworth Arts and Culture Organisation (WACO) invite the community to put on their dancing shoes for an exciting fundraiser.

The trio organisations will host a fun-filled programme sure to entertain both young and old on Saturday, 10 April at the Merewent Cheshire Home. Music, dance, delicious food and treats are just some of the items that will be on offer on the day.

Dominic Samuels from Chow Time joined forces with the two worthy non-profit organisations after identifying their financial strains. He has donated his time and resources towards ensuring the day is a success.

“All of this was God’s plan. Jarryd Watson of WACO reached out to me and informed me about the challenges the organisation was facing. It was around the same time I had been talking to Kerry Williams from Merewent Cheshire Home about doing a fundraiser. It made sense to all get together and do a joint fundraiser where all three organisations will benefit from the proceeds raised and keep their doors open.

The dream team who have put together the exciting initiative: Dominic Samuels, Dolores Dawson, Winnie Mkhize, Jarryd Watson, Nasreen Linx and Kerry Williams.

“Chow Time feeds the underprivileged in the community of Wentworth, WACO keeps children off the street, educates them through dance and has even travelled with several of them overseas, exposing them to great opportunities. The Merewent Cheshire Home cares for individuals living with disabilities. So it’s all these organisations working together towards raising funds for the greater good of the community,” he said.

Dolores Dawson of the Merewent Cheshire Home said the initiative couldn’t have come at a greater time. “The home is standing on rusted legs and they could snap at any time. We need every single cent to ensure that we continue to care for our residents and that they have all that they need. Some don’t have family that they turn to and depend on us to stay open.”

Jarryd of WACO also shares similar sentiments after the organisation suffered a financial knock due to the impacts of Covid-19. “The organisation has been around for 27 years and has provided a great platform for youth and exposed them to opportunities in the world of the arts. Last year was very tough but we hope this event will boost more donations moving forward.”

Merewent Cheshire Home and the Wentworth Organisation Arts and Culture Organisation are registered NPOs and PBOs with a section 18A tax certificate. They appeal to local corporates and business for sponsorships and donations towards the work they do.

Tickets cost R80. To purchase a ticket or for more information contact Jarryd Watson on 082-683-9665 or Kerry Williams on 084-446-1355 or the Merewent Cheshire Home on 031-468-1667.
