Show your support for animals in need

The greater public is invited to come enjoy a freshly made boerie roll in exchange for a tin o bag of dog food at Jawitz Properties on 228 Marine Drive, Bluff from 10am on Saturday, 27 March.

THE Clairwood and Jacobs Animal Feeding Scheme is always in need of donations, whether big or small. That’s why organisation founder, Cindy Kennerley was overjoyed when she was approached by Jawitz Properties to help her collect much needed pet food and funds for her fur babies.

The greater public is invited to come enjoy a freshly made boerie roll in exchange for a tin o bag of dog food at Jawitz Properties on 228 Marine Drive, Bluff from 10am on Saturday, 27 March.

For six years, every second Wednesday means dogs in and around Jacobs and Clairwood get to reconnect with arguably their favourite person who is always just as ready to shower them with treats as much as she does with love.

“I’m currently feeding about 120 dogs. I use 230kg of dry food per feed, 40kg to make up wet feed generously donated by Bluff Meat Supply and the rest is supplied to 27 families in need for in between feeds. I’m always in need of donations for the vet bill for sterilisations which is my first priority to prevent breeding .

“Lockdown has severely affected me in that owners don’t have money for vet treatments especially smaller things like tick and flea and de-worming. I have however met awesome animal lovers during lockdown who appreciate what I do and have supported both accounts as they see the work I do,” said Cindy who currently has five doggies in need of sterilisation.

“We at Jawitz, feel we need to be a voice for the animals and be a ‘Real-Assistance’ to this dedicated person Cindy, as she handles this mammoth task mostly alone. We know that the onset of Covid-19 must have made it even more difficult for her to feed the animals.

“We understand that Cindy is also helping poor families in these neighbouring areas, who have lost their income due to Covid-19, to feed their animals, as well as all the strays and neglected animals she has been feeding for a long-time, so her need is now much greater. We understand she has vet bills to pay on a regular basis however we are not collecting cash donations but rather food to add to her supplies. Vet account and banking details for cash donations will be at our venue on the day of the fundraiser,” said Jawitz Properties Administrator, Susan Seath.
