Outreach feeds the vulnerable

Residents were served a filling lunch and supper every day at the Wentworth Victim Friendly Centre.

THREE-THOUSAND people went to bed with proper nutrition for 11 days thanks to a feeding drive in Wentworth.

Targeting the needy, the drive ran from Saturday, 13 February to Tuesday, 23 February at the Wentworth Victim Friendly Centre (WVFC). Residents were served a filling lunch and supper every day.

The outreach programme was made possible by the Islamic organisation and community acitivist Hassan Khan in partnership with the WVFC personnel led by the co-ordinator, Jenny Gomes.

“It was a month of feeding to the needy and elderly. About 3 000 people were fed lunch and supper during that period. The feeding was a success. The WVFC, Jenny Gomes and the staff cooked and prepared the food,” said Hassan.

He added that the co-coordinator thanked her team and everyone involved.
