Montclair Mall food donation fills hunger gaps for organisations

Through this initiative, 23 760 mouths will be fed.

MONTCLAIR Mall is known as the heart of Montclair and with its recent donation to four organisations, it is no wonder why.

With the help of its tenants, Arrow for Change of Arrow Head Properties and Rise Against Hunger (RAH) over 23 000 beneficiaries will be well fed.

“We gave away 110 boxes, each box feeds 216 mouths which works out to 23 760 mouths that will be fed with this initiative. This excludes what the tenants of the mall have donated towards the cause.”

“Montclair Mall is a community mall, we wanted to show the community that we’re not only a mall but we’re here to give back to the community. The four organisations we chose desperately needed donations. They also received personal protective equipment (PPE), masks and sanitisers as well,” said Cassandra Hailstone of Flourish Forward Marketing.

RAH’s events and marketing coordinator, Kim Carrington, said although their core focus is to distribute meals to early childhood development centres and vulnerable children in most rural areas, the donation was a wonderful collaboration that allowed them to reach further to cancer patients and youth centres.

“The four beneficiaries are namely the Montclair-based CANSA, the Durban Child and Youth Care Centre and two early childhood development centres Mbalencane and Bugzee’s Pre-Schools. The one has 80 children and the other has 20. Tenants from Montclair Mall sponsored milk, 100 loaves of bread, hand sanitisers and toiletries to add to the meals donated to give back to the community of Montclair,” she said.
