Murder suspect wanted by Montclair police

Police warned that should you spot the suspect, do not try to apprehend him.

MURDER suspect, Mninikhaya Vundla, is wanted by the Montclair police.

According to Captain Derek Vijiam, Vundla seems to frequent the Wentworth, Clairwood, Lamontville, Mobeni and Chatsworth areas.

He warned that if he is seen to not try apprehend him, instead, call the police.  Call Captain Rico Naidoo 079-500-0762 or Sergeant Sifiso Shezi 079-500-0835.  

 

Friday, 21 August

A CASE of attempted murder is being investigated by the police following a woman sustaining a gunshot injury to the chin at an action bar on South Coast Road, Clairwood.

“At about 6.45pm, the woman, who was with her friend, was drinking. Her ex-boyfriend came to her and wanted her to leave with him. She refused to leave. The suspect left the bar and returned with a firearm and fired a shot which hit her in the chin and thereafter turned his firearm on himself, however, the firearm jammed,” said.

The man was arrested and the firearm was seized. He was charged and appeared in court on Monday, 24 August. Investigation is continuing.

Sunday, 23 August 

A MAN was arrested for falsifying a hijacking after crashing the company car he was driving.

“The complainant reported that he was hijacked of his white Polo on the corner of Keyon Howden and Montclair roads at 4.50am, while he was stationary at the traffic light by two men with firearms. He claimed that the vehicle was taken by the men, who took off at high speed and crashed at the circle opposite Steers on Kenyon Howden Road. It is alleged that the suspects fled the scene on foot. The vehicle had its tyres and front bumper extensively damaged,” said Vijiam.

Montclair Trio Crime detectives did an in-depth investigation and learnt that the man had lied about the events of the day.

“He was involved in a collision with a company vehicle and was afraid to lose his employment therefore reported a hijacking. He was arrested by Sergeant Msizi Msomi for defeating the ends of justice. SAPS Montclair issues a warning to any complainant that if you report a false case, you will be arrested and charged,” he added.

Thursday, 25 August

A CASE of murder is under investigation following a fatal stabbing of a woman in a hostel in Wema at about 10pm.

“The deceased, Jabu Dlamini, 44, was in her room with her roommates at SJ Smith hostel and with her boyfriend, drinking liquor. The boyfriend initiated an argument with the deceased. He took a knife and stabbed the deceased once on the left side of her chest and fled the scene. The roommates went to sleep and found the deceased lying on the floor when they got up. The suspect’s whereabouts are unknown at this stage. Investigation is continuing,” said Vijiam.

Wednesday, 26 August

A MURDER inquest was filed at Montclair police station following a fatal stabbing at about 6.40pm. According to Vijiam, the victim had been training with his friend at the Ramblers Sports Ground in Montclair.

“They completed their training and were walking through the parking area towards the victim’s car. A group of men were drinking on the veranda of the change rooms when one of these men verbally abused and insulted the victim. The victim continued to his motor vehicle and subsequently returned with a stick to the group. In the ensuing argument the victim was stabbed once in the chest. The suspect’s friend pursued after the suspect, but could not keep up with him as he fled. He returned and identified the suspect to the victim’s friend. The police were called in. Investigation is continuing with an arrest imminent,” he said.

Thursday, 27 August 

A CASE of attempted murder is under investigation after a truck driver sustained a bullet wound to the upper body at 1am. Montclair police officers were patrolling the N2 highway near Umlazi off-ramp when they came upon the man on the road next to a truck.

“It was observed that the victim sustained a bullet wound, but was still alive. He was transferred by ambulance to the hospital. The police continued with investigations and found that the truck, which was stationary near the victim had spent cartridges around it,” said Vijiam.

He added that the window of the truck was shattered, however, the load in the truck was intact. It is alleged the driver was parked on the freeway and awaiting another vehicle when he was shot by unknown assailants.
